In this role, Li will lead the charge
toward a more globally-focused educational experience, reaching out
to increase international collaboration, and fostering a
culturally-enhanced worldview to Rose-Hulman students, faculty and
staff members.
Li comes to Rose-Hulman after developing and implementing global
strategies as director of international programs at Kettering
University in Flint, Mich. Under Li's leadership, Kettering
built international partnerships for collaborative research,
recruitment, study abroad, student exchange and cross-cultural
training. His contributions helped transform Kettering's
international programs by integrating global education into its
academic curriculum, faculty research and student experience.
"Dr. Li brings a vast wealth of experience in the area of
international programs to Rose-Hulman. I have no doubt that
he will provide the leadership necessary to coordinate, enhance and
expand the global opportunities for our students," said Phillip
Cornwell, Rose-Hulman's vice president of academic affairs.
Li said he hopes to build upon Rose-Hulman's reputation as a
leader in undergraduate engineering, science, and math education
and help it become the best college for global learning
experiences.
"This will prepare Rose-Hulman students with the cultural skills
and mindset to change the world," Li stated.
Li is an internationally recognized Steinbeck scholar in
American Literature. He earned his bachelor's degree in
English from China's Hebei Teachers University, and followed with a

University. He earned a doctorate in Modern American
Literature from the University of Oregon, where he also studied
international business strategy, organizational behavior, marketing
and finance. He recently attended the Institute for
Management and Leadership in Education at Harvard
University.
