Eighty-seven Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology students were recognized for their academic achievements
during the college's annual Honors and Awards Ceremony on April
30. Awards were presented by the Office of Academic Affairs
and academic departments.
Several special academic awards were
given to high performing students in each class. Kyle Wilson,
a senior mechanical engineering major from Dublin, Ohio, was
awarded with the Carl Wischmeyer Award for having the top grade
point average following completion of the junior year. Three
students received the Paul N. Bogart Prize for being the top of the
class following the sophomore year: Julie Brennan, a junior
mechanical engineering major from Indianapolis; Andrew Bower, a
junior optical engineering major from Charleston, Ill.; and Zakari
Eckert, a junior mechanical engineering major from Waterloo,
Ind. Max Verkamp, a sophomore physics major from Saint
Anthony, Ind., was awarded the Heminway Bronze Medal for academic
excellence in the first year at Rose-Hulman.
Other seniors recognized as Carl
Wischmeyer scholars for academic achievement following the junior
year were Jonathan Strauser, a biomedical engineering major from
Carmel, Ind.; Michael Pridal-LoPiccolo, a computer science major
from Nevada, Mo.; Amanda Barnett, a physics major from Mooresville,
Ind.; and Eric Crockett, a computer science major from Georgetown,
Ind.
Named a Paul N. Bogart Scholar for
academic scholarship following the sophomore year was Andrew
McCurry, a junior computer engineering major from Park Ridge,
Ill.

Sophomores selected as Heminway
Scholars for high academic achievement following the freshman year
were James Breen, a mechanical engineering major from Las Vegas;
Sean Gorsky, an optical engineering major from Elmhurst, Ill.; Yile
Gu, a chemical engineering major from Jiangsu, China; Mathew Hein,
an electrical engineering major from Sterling Heights, Mich.;
Gregory Larmore, an electrical engineering major from Deerfield,
Ill.; Jonathan Martin, a sophomore chemical engineering major from
Greenwood, Ind.; Rebecca McCarthy, a mathematics major from Eads,
Tenn.; and Kendra Moore, a chemical engineering major from Kenmore,
Wash.
Other Heminway Scholars were Chuong Nguyen, a mechanical
engineering major from Indianapolis; Ethan Post, a chemical
engineering major from Rockford, Mich.; John Rigitano, an
electrical engineering major from Addison, Ill.; Alexandra Schweir,
a biomedical engineering major from Lawrenceburg, Ind.; Shanie
Strullmyer, a computer science major from Farina, Ill.; Krista
Telljohann, a chemical engineering major from Kingwood, Texas;
Joseph Wimmer, a mechanical engineering major from Elk Grove
Village, Ill.; Emily Yedinak, a chemical engineering major from
Lake in the Hills, Ill.; and Kurtis Zimmerman, a computer science
major from Shelbyville, Ind.
Students recognized by their academic departments featured
senior Molly Gillam from Lafayette, Ind., as the Outstanding
Biology Senior; Nicholas Race from Martinsville, Ind., the Samuel
F. Hulbert Outstanding Biomedical Engineering Senior;
Mitchell Ishmael from Knoxville, Tenn. and Molly Harding from
Avon, Ind., the Archer Daniels Midland Award as the outstanding
graduating chemical engineering students; Emily Meyer from Chicago,
the Sam C. Hite Award for chemical engineering achievement; Krista
Telljohan from Kingwood, Texas, the Eli Lilly & Co. Clinton
Laboratories Award as outstanding junior chemical engineering
student; Suzanne Kissel from Evansville, Ind., the John White Award
as the most outstanding graduating chemistry student; Carly Baehr
from Stevens Point, Wis., the William Albert Noyes Sr. Award for
achievement in chemistry; Gregory Blachut from Willowbrook, Ill.,
the Undergraduate Research Award in Chemistry and Biochemistry.

Michael Atkins Outstanding Computer Science and Software
Engineering Senior Thesis Award; Clancy Soehren from Edinburgh,
Ind. and Annmarie Stanley from Warrenville, Ill., the Electrical
and Computer Engineering Department's Outstanding Senior Award;
Ross Hansen from Gleneden Beach, Ore. and Gregory Larmore from
Deerfield, Ill., the Eta Kappa Nu Outstanding Electrical and
Computer Engineering Sophomore Award; Matthew Runchey from
Springsboro, Ohio, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic
Engineers' Outstanding Student Award.
Also recognized were Michael Ulrey from North Oaks, Minn., the
Outstanding Senior in Economics Award; Eric Crockett from
Georgetown, Ind., Kyle Wilson from Dublin, Ohio and Michael
Pridal-LoPiccolo from Nevada, Mo., the Clarence P. Sousley Award as
outstanding mathematics graduates; Brian Kodalen from Valrico, Fla.
and Matt Mercer from Oxford, Ohio, the Theodore Paine Palmer Award
as top freshman math students; Andrew Bomar from Big Rapids, Mich.,
the Cummins Engine Company Award as outstanding graduating
mechanical engineering student; James Breen from Las Vegas, the
Steinhauser Award as the top mechanical engineering scholar
following the sophomore year; Amanda Barnett from Mooresville,
Ind., the John W. Rhee Award as most outstanding physics
graduate;
Bo Miller from Kansas City, the Jean M. Bennett Award as
outstanding optics student; Neil Krueger from Beach Park, Ill., the
Outstanding Senior Engineering Physics Award; Max Verkamp from
Saint Anthony, Ind., the C. Leroy Mason Award as the outstanding
sophomore physics student; and Sean Gorskey from Elmhurst, Ind.,
