Our courses familiarize students with broad qualitative and
quantitative methods for assessing enduring questions of existence,
relationships, values, and aesthetics and for understanding the
ideas, systems, processes, or trends that humans generate. Our job
in Humanities and Social Sciences is to try to improve how you
think, not what you think. We expect our students to leave
Rose-Hulman with the ability to apply their discoveries to a broad
range of situations, and to that end, we help students cultivate a
facility for:
- Critical thinking
- Effective communication
- Success in a global context
- Commitment to ethical and responsible leadership
Our tenured and tenure-track faculty, 100% of whom have attained
the Ph.D., provide the individualized attention students need, not
only to achieve career breadth, but to succeed in the non-technical
dimensions of their future work and personal lives. Our faculty are
also nationally recognized for their scholarly contributions to
their respective disciplines through publications, presentations,
and leadership in national organizations.
