Opportunities for
women
It's a fact: engineering is a male-dominated field. At last
count, less than 15% of America's engineers were women. At
Rose-Hulman, we believe an engineer can make a difference in
people's lives - regardless of gender. As a female student what can
you expect at Rose-Hulman?
FAQs
1. What percent of the student body is
female? Nearly 20%, which is comparable to other
engineering, mathematics and science programs.

2. How many women are on faculty at
Rose-Hulman? Currently there are 39 women on the
faculty. In addition, there are several women in key administrative
positions in the learning center, career services, admissions,
financial aid, student affairs, and alumni affairs.
3. Is Rose-Hulman a safe campus?
We have a very safe campus. Our published crime statistics confirm
this. Of course, we want our students to use common sense, and we
have taken preventative measures to ensure student safety such as
lighting walkways, having security patrol campus, and installing
video cameras in several areas of campus. Also, we are located just
outside the city, in a somewhat rural setting.

Women Engineers) is a national organization founded in 1950 to help
women engineers network and discuss issues related to women in
engineering. The Rose-Hulman SWE chapter started in 1996.

degree in math, science or engineering? Absolutely!
Placement for all of our students is nearly 100% every year. We
have employers recruiting our students from over 550 companies for
co-ops, internships, and jobs after graduation. More and more women
serve as "corporate recruiters" for companies hiring graduating
engineers and scientists.
6. What are some of the things I might do with an
engineering degree, that's not engineering? A
problem-solving education will prepare you for several different
fields. Our graduates have opportunities in medicine, law,
consulting, education, and management.

at Rose-Hulman? For all of our students the
